Features & Benefits

  • Performance
Excellent performance in dry/wet tuft bind retention, dimensionally stable and withstands heavy foot traffic.

  • 50% Stronger
Recycled content makes Nexterra  50% stronger than conventional carpet tile backing with vastly improved tuft bind performance, ie can withstand over 1,000,000 foot traffic tests without quality loss.

  • Lowers VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds)
Another environmentally-friendly innovative technology that withstands both wear and repeated cleanings.  Independent testing shows Puralex reduces total VOC emissions 25-40% by absorbing odours from the air indoors.

  • Lighter
Lighter than other tiles making it easier to install & significantly reduces transportation costs.

  • Warranties
Lifetime warranties (as long as it remains installed in the original location and owned by the original purchaser) against wear, tuft bind, pilling & fuzzing delamination, edge ravel, zippering, static propensity and dimensional stability.

 Puralex Treatment

Nexterra CT Puralex Treatment

VOC Emmissions with Puralex Treatment

What is Puralex?

Puralex is a self-renewing odour neutraliser that purifies and freshens the air indoors.  These odour neutralisers break down and destroy most organic molecules and are perpetually renewed by air circulation.

This treatment is applied during the manufacturing process and forms a molecular bond with the fibre that will withstand both wear and repeated cleanings.

Puralex contains no harmful chemicals or fragrances and passes all safety standards for flammability.

Puralex has shown to be effective against virtually any indoor odour.

Puralex does not just make the air smell better, it also attacks VOC emissions in the indoor air.

Independent testing shows Puralex reduces total VOC emissions 25-40% by absorbing odours from the air indoors.

Puralex passes all safety standards for flammability.

Testing confirms Puralex is activated by air circulation and will withstand both wear and repeated cleanings.

Real & measurable goals towards protecting the natural environment

  • Investment in Green Renewable Energy Credits (RECs).
The manufacturer of these Nexterra carpet tiles became the first commercial carpet manufacturer to buy 100% Green Renewable Energy Credits for all their commercial facilities.
All power for production is from renewable green energy sources, ie wind.
All Renewable Energy Credits purchased are third party certified.

  • Waste Reduction and Landfill Diversions
Over 110 million pounds (1.9 billion 16oz plastic bottles) of PET bottles and 2 million pounds of glass are recycled into product each year, which would otherwise take around 700 years to decompose.
In the first 9 months of 2007, they recycled over 38 million pounds of post-industrial waste that otherwise would have ended up in a landfill.
All waste trims and scraps are sold to recycling facilities:

     • Each year 8.5 million pounds of selvedge edge trimmings and one million pounds of hard-back seam cuts
are down-cycled into carpet padding and/or filler for use in building materials and outdoor furniture.
     • 1.5 million pounds of shear lint material is re-melted each year to produce fibres and/or reprocessed
       into filler for other industries.
     • 6 million pounds of scrap nylon is recycled annually from tufting beams and creels, then turned back
into Type 6 nylon fibre and/or fillers for use in other industries.

  • Energy Usage
This manufacturer continually works to lower the amount of energy it takes to produce their products.
They have been 26% more energy efficient during the past 12 months than the previous year.
Electricity is the greatest producer of green house gas, playing an active role in global warming.
This manufacturer invests in RECs to lessen the indirect role in green house emissions.

  • Water Reduction
They have had an approximate 40% reduction in water usage by reclaiming and recycling waste water from the carpet manufacturing process.
Nexterra tile backing does not require any water in the production process.
At their sister facility, all water brought into the plant is recycled and then released back to the city where it is re-treated for public use.  They currently have zero waste water.

  • Indoor Air Quality
This is the only carpet manufacturer offering Puralex, an odour neutraliser that lowers VOCs and helps purify the air indoors.
Independent testing using EPA approved methods shows Puralex reduces total VOC emissions by 25-40% by absorbing odours from the air indoors.
